Our story

We met on a trail-crew weekend in the Chattahoochee National Forest — Owen was carrying twice his share of gravel, and Claire was the only one who noticed. Six autumns of hiking these ridges later, there was only one place we wanted to say yes.

Travel & stay

Getting here

Blue Ridge is about two hours north of Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson airport and about an hour and a half from Chattanooga. A car is the easiest way to get around.

Where to stay

We're holding a room block at Ridgeline Hall — mention our names when you book. Downtown Blue Ridge also has small inns, and there are cabin rentals all over the surrounding hills if you're coming with a group.

Make a weekend of it

Mid-October is prime leaf season. Ride the scenic railway, pick apples at an orchard, or walk the shops downtown between events.

What to wear

Mountain cocktail. Dresses, slacks, and sport coats are perfect; ties are optional. The ceremony is outdoors on grass, so skip the stilettos.

October evenings in the mountains get chilly — bring a wrap or jacket for after sunset.
